Long Money Lending
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
Everything you give us is confidential.
Your ID or passport, selfie, payslips, bank statements, proof of address, driver's licence, banking and card details, and every answer on your application are confidential. They are stored securely and seen only by you and authorised Long Money staff. We share them only where your loan needs it — such as a registered credit bureau for your credit check and your bank for the debit order — or where the law requires. We never sell them.
Long Money Lending ("Long Money", "we", "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website and apply for a loan, why we collect it, and how we protect it, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the National Credit Act 34 of 2005 (NCA).
1. Who we are
Long Money Lending, [registered company name and registration number], whose registration as a credit provider with the National Credit Regulator (NCRCP number) is pending approval, [physical address]. Our Information Officer can be contacted at [email address].
2. Information we collect
- Identity details: full name(s), surname, date of birth, nationality, SA ID, passport, permit or asylum document number, and photos or scans of those documents.
- For foreign nationals: your visa, permit or asylum document and a police-stamped affidavit confirming your address, used only to verify your identity and address and to prevent fraud.
- Proof of income (payslips, proof of business income, or a grant or pension letter), bank statements and your payday, used to assess affordability and to set up your repayments.
- A selfie taken with your phone's camera, used only to match your face to your ID and protect you against identity theft; proof of address; and, if you add it, your driver's licence and its expiry date.
- For business loans: the business's SARS tax number, website, company registration number and tax documents.
- Your repayment bank account, the type of card on it and only its last 4 digits. We never ask for or store a full card number, PIN or CVV.
- Your next of kin's name, relationship, phone number, ID number and home address, which you confirm they agreed to share. We contact them only if we cannot reach you or if something happens to you.
- If a customer passes away: the details of the family member who reports it, the death certificate, their ID, proof of relationship and the executor's details, used only to settle the loan with the estate.
- Contact details: email address, cellphone number, home address and postal code.
- Financial details: employment status, income, expenses, and the loan amount and term you apply for.
- Answers you give in your application and messages you send to our AI loan advisor.
- Basic technical information, such as your browser type and the pages you visit, to keep the website working and secure.
3. Why we use your information
- To verify your identity, check that your documents are valid and not expired, and prevent fraud.
- To assess your loan application and affordability, as required by the NCA.
- To contact you about your application, and to pay out and manage your loan.
- To meet our legal and regulatory obligations, including record-keeping.
- To improve our website and services.
We only use your information for these purposes, or where you have given consent, or where the law allows or requires it.
4. Credit bureaus and other parties
With your consent, and as allowed by the NCA, we may check your credit record with registered credit bureaus and share information about your loan with them. We may also share information with service providers who help us run our business (for example secure hosting and identity verification), who must keep it confidential and protect it. We never sell your personal information.
5. How we protect your information
Your details and documents are stored securely. ID and passport documents are kept in private storage that only you and authorised Long Money staff can access. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent loss, misuse or unauthorised access.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or for as long as the law requires us to keep records.
